Big Fat Smile’s Corrimal Community Preschool unveiled its brand new playground in a grand opening ceremony yesterday in the company of State member for Keira, Ryan Park.

The new playground was built as a result of a Community Building Partnership Grant of $25,000 from the NSW government.

The grant which was awarded to Big Fat Smile for the development of the outdoor play space was also combined with $15,000 from Corrimal Community Parents and Friends group.

Member for Keira, Ryan Park and his four year old son Preston cut the ribbon for the new playground while parents and families of the 120 enrolled children watched.

The new play space at Corrimal Community Preschool will play an integral role as part of the environment focused teaching curriculum at Big Fat Smile.

‘‘We have a play-based learning model which allows children to explore natural environments and to build resilience,’’ Big Fat Smile marketing and communications director Rachel Foster said.

‘‘Environments as places of discovery, play and education extend on the early childhood national curriculum and provide opportunities for children to develop their gross motor, social, creative and cognitive skills.’’
