Big Fat Smile is thrilled with the news that more playgrounds could be developed around the Illawarra if the ‘Play Wollongong’ Strategy is voted through Council next week.
The draft ‘Play Wollongong’ strategy looks at ways to develop new playgrounds and better utilising existing parks whilst making the most of the natural environment.
Jennine Primmer, Chief Creative Officer at Big Fat Smile said “Learning through play is one of the most important aspects of a child’s physical, emotional and mental development.”
The Communities for Children (2518 & 2502 Hubs), delivered by Big Fat Smile, holds free outdoor playgroups at the following locations across the week.
Monday Primbee Park, 10am – 12pm
Tuesday Corrimal East Public School, 9am – 11am
Wednesday Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre, 9.30am – 11.30am
& Illawarra Toy Library, 10am – 12pm
Thursday Happy Valley Reserve East Corrimal, 10am – 12pm
Friday Bellambi Public School, 9am – 11am
This Australian Government initiative supports families with children aged 0-12 years living in the 2518 and 2502 postcode areas. The playgroups have become increasingly popular over the last 4 years. They provide fun activities for kids while allowing parents to connect with other parents and share information about other community services and support available in the region.
