We’re Big Fat Smile. A not-for-profit that plays a pivotal role in the lives of thousands of children and families across Australia. We’re early education enthusiasts, with 40+ community preschools, long day care centres and out of school hours care centres, and a variety of community and inclusion programs. Due to our size, there are big opportunities for those who want to go further. Right now, we’re looking for superstar Early Childhood Educators and Teachers for our Western Suburbs Community Preschool.

The experienced team of educators and teachers care for around 70 children aged 0-5, in our modern purpose-built facility that has three spacious rooms and a beautiful back yard. About the centre

We are a beautifully located, purpose-built centre and our unique location offers a space for children to engage in prolonged play experiences and nature-based learning. Our centre is located next to Sheargold Park, Unanderra Public School and the Cordeaux Heights shopping enclave, allowing us valuable community links and engagement with the local community.

Within our curriculum the children are engaged with many key learning areas. These include movement skills programs, STEM and an individually focused transition to school support program All programs are developed to support inclusion, social justice and wellbeing as primary outcomes.

Meet the centre team

Our team consists of a close-knit group of passionate, experienced educators. We’re a diverse team, some new to the early childhood education profession whilst others have over 30 years’ experience working with children.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and professional team, where we feel connected and fulfilled. There’s a real in it together feeling here, and when the going gets tough (as it sometimes does), we have each other’s backs.

Because of the diverse needs of our team, we understand the importance of work-life balance and flexibility. We stive to negotiate flexible working arrangements that meet the needs of both our amazing educators and the centre.

Educator jobs in Cordeaux Heights - Now Hiring

Working with a supportive, expert team in the day-to-day running of our centres, our Early Childhood Educators play a critical role in shaping young minds. Passionate about providing for the care, education and wellbeing of every child in your room, you’ll help create happy, healthy relationships between a child and the most important people in their lives. 

Together with the children, their families and your team, you’ll design and deliver colourful learning experiences that match a child’s interests and needs. You’ll work out how each child learns best, and be involved with planning and applying your unique programs, always reflecting and thinking about how we can improve. Building strong relationship with the families, you’ll jointly set goals and keep them updated on the children’s progress against them. 

You’ll bring fun, laughter and play to each day, but most importantly, you’ll create magical moments for children to experiment and grow.

What you need to succeed

On top of a fun-loving attitude and big smile, the other things we look for in our early childhood educators:       

  • You hold an ACECQA approved qualification, or are working towards a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or a Bachelor of Education (Birth to 5 years) – if not – you are willing to work towards a qualification through a Traineeship with Big Fat Smile
  • You hold a Cleared Valid for Paid Work, (WWCC) or are willing to get one
  • Passion for creating better outcomes for local children, families and communities
  • Commitment to making sure the children in your care are safe and healthy
  • An advocate for ensuring all reasonable steps are taken to protect children from abuse or harm
