From our Director Rebecca Desoisa

At Kenny Street Community Preschool, we truly believe that our relationships and connections we form are of utmost importance. Being a small service allows us to get to know our children on a more personal level and allows us to create a child focused curriculum built around children’s voices. With us being in a small house it gives a warm and homely feel that allows children to learn and thrive within this environment.

Our environment at Kenny Street allows for sibling interactions to develop and helps children to feel safe within the environment. We as educators believe that when children feel safe, secure and supported this is when they will get the most out of their learning. By giving children lots of opportunities for choice, we allow children to feel a sense of control and therefore engage with the environment in a deeper and more meaningful way.

We are very proud of the spaces that we have created at Kenny Street and believe that these environments help to foster children’s wonder and curiosity. By listening to children’s voices it allows us to create a well thought out curriculum with encompasses all children’s strengths.

What Parents are Saying About Kenny Street Community Preschool

“The staff are all very helpful and caring. They take a genuine interest in each child which is often hard to find.”

“I love the friendly teachers, the family environment, and hearing about all the great group time activities and games our kids are learning. Great centre!”

“The centre we deal with is excellent. Very approachable friendly staff who are like family.”

“The team at Kenny St are amazing! My 4 boys love it there & I’m really grateful for the service. The boys were really unhappy at another centre prior to coming here & I felt instantly comfortable that the boys were getting the best care from the very first day at the centre.”

Our intimate and homely environment provides 32 children with a home away from home as they engage in play-based fundamental learning experiences.

Our qualified and experienced educators and teachers are passionate about delivering high quality early childhood education, and in engaging in strong, nurturing relationships with our children and families.

Each child has a focus teacher and our small numbers allows more time for educators to get to know each individual child personally and help them build on those ever-important fundamental learning skills.

We have a great support network from the local and wider community, including the local Primary School, which enhances our Transition to School program.

A great aspect of our centre is that it is located close to Wollongong CBD, which supports working families of the Illawarra and Wollongong region. This position is also fundamental for our programs and involvement with the wider community through excursions and incursions.
