From our Director Eliza McGrath

We believe that the type of experiences a child may be involved in, in the first five years of their life are crucial in their ongoing learning and development. As such, we are committed to providing a positive and nurturing and safe environment where children are encouraged and supported in their strengths, interests and emerging skills.

We also recognise that a child’s learning and development should be considered on an individual basis, with children included as competent learners in a positive learning environment. This then supports their participation in decisions that affect them.

What Parents are Saying About Reynolds Street Community Preschool

“Amazing staff, Centre and Practices. I have never had my child so happy in care before or felt so valued as a family. I am so lucky and happy to have my children a part of the Reynolds Street Centre!”

“Staff are beautiful, always caring and accommodating. Great outdoor facilities, love that they have vege patches, chickens and lots of activities to develop all their important gross motor skills”

“Both my girls have been at BFS and I am so happy. The kids are progressing well, learning a lot and the educators are fantastic”

“Since the day we walked in we haven’t felt a single bit of doubt in having our daughter start her life in education at Reynolds street. The staff are beautiful and we know it’s the right place when we ask our daughter if she wants to go to school and her little face lights up knowing where she will be for the day”

We are very strong advocates for positive education for children, families and educators. Providing everyone with skills and resources that support resilience and build mental toughness. We have embedded meditation, yoga and brain breaks into our daily room routines with fantastic calming results!

Our outdoor space includes a water wall, music wall, outdoor kitchen, chalkboard/painting wall, walking beams, a large sandpit area, a vegetable garden, and a stage area where children can role play. It is a very interactive and stimulating environment.

We encourage children to learn a language, with extensions of learning leading to cultural competence. Children expand their knowledge about the variations in languages, and apply these to other literacy tasks, including listening to sounds in words.

This then supports reading and writing. We are regarded as “ELLA champions” due to our successful inclusion within this trial. As a result of the successful trial, the program has been fully embraced by the Government and is available as an important inclusion in our preschools curriculum.
