From our Director Alicia Dellapina

My role as the director is to support each and every team member but also our broader community, inclusive of all children, families, extended families.

At Shellharbour Early Learning and Care, we are the second most important part of each family’s day, as they enter our early learning centre they will be encouraged to grow, be supported, be nurtured and learn through our play-based curriculum that is inclusive of all children aged birth-5 years.

Our focus is on each child’s individual needs and development while also including early childhood experts, the early years learning framework and the national quality standards.  Our spacious indoor learning environment gives us the flexibility to create smaller, cosy groups where children can choose, explore and lead their own learning journey.

This approach helps every child continue to grow in confidence, strengthen their wellbeing, and follow their interests and needs at a pace that feels right for them.

Our menu has been curated from family and children’s favourites and is approved through the Munch and Move program ensuring all children are adequately provided for in all areas of their nutrition, allowing them to get the best start to life.

We’re a larger service with smaller, age-based learning rooms, giving every child the chance to learn and grow in an environment tailored just for them. This structure allows our programs to be purposefully planned and personally meaningful, helping children build strong bonds and genuine connections with their educators.

We want every child to feel safe, secure, supported and seen as they journey through early childhood education — because the part we play in their lives matters, every single day.

Alicia Doolan, Centre Director at Barrack Heights Community Preschool

Shellharbour Early Learning and Care is a safe space for living and learning where children are celebrated for their individuality and empowered to discover, explore and take the lead in their learning. Our interactions with children are focused on high quality educational outcomes and we believe in inclusion providing high quality childcare accessible to all children and families.

Our environments are inviting, engaging, age appropriate, thought provoking and challenging and represent our children, families and cultures.

In addition to our main outdoor area, we have an additional indoor/ outdoor area for each room which means children have 3 separate spaces with a range of varied learning experiences to engage with across the day. Even during those really hot days or wet weather, children are able to enjoy active play as each room includes Softfall flooring surfaces. The variety of areas allow for more intimate small group experiences across the day to optimise learning opportunities.

We offer a Transition to School program with connections to local schools to support children and families in a smooth transition to big school.

There is easy access to the centre through dedicated parking spots. Our central location means that the children can access the local library, child specific experiences in conjunction with Stockland and our local community garden to further extend on their learning through hands on experiences within our local community.
