From our Director Tiarna Miller
We are strong advocates for interest-based learning and encouraging children to learn through play, recognising each child as intrinsically capable of developing new skills through interaction with their world. We provide a nurturing and caring environment that allows children to develop and build their curiosity and social skills whilst exploring the natural world around them. We aim to build resilience in all children and to ensure that children are building their emotional intelligence from a young age. Recognising the rights and developmental needs of all children helps us to support children to build behaviours that will provide strong foundations of protection them throughout their lives.
We love to engage in our local Community and can often be found exploring the Library, football field or local shops. All families are welcome to be as involved in the centre life as they wish and we greatly appreciate all input into our educational program.
What Parents are Saying About Corrimal Community Preschool
We have a large outdoor area that provides a variety of learning experiences for children to extend their skills. These areas include; bike tracks, outdoor musical drums, slippery dip with climbing wall, sand pit, vegetable garden, dirt pit, etc.
We provide school readiness and a Transition to School Program, and work with local primary schools all year to make the transition as smooth as possible for children and their families. Our program promotes the skills needed for starting Primary School e.g. sharing and turn-taking in even our youngest children.
We use a variety of frameworks to facilitate and extend children’s social and emotional development and have extensive experience working with children from diverse backgrounds with varied and complex needs. We aim to provide a tailored educational program to allow every child to reach their full potential.
We participate in ongoing excursions throughout the year to extend on children’s learning. These include regular visits to the library, Corrimal Cougars stadium, local shops, nursing homes and more.
We encourage children to learn at their own pace and we believe that children learn best when they are interested and engaged. Throughout the year children engage in a variety of explorations with their peers and educators that allow them to build social skills, problem solve and which promote a curiosity for learning. We like to think outside the box and encourage unique ways of learning that are most appropriate for each child.
