Big Fat Smile’s Child Safe Framework is designed to ensure a comprehensive approach to child safety, embedding it into the very fabric of our culture, policies, practices, and procedures. This framework is pivotal in creating and maintaining a child-safe environment.

Key Elements of the Framework

The framework is built around four key elements, each contributing to a protective setting where children can feel and be safe:

  1. Environment: Establishing a physical, cultural and emotional environment that prioritises child safety.
  2. Culture and Purpose: Fostering an organisational culture that values, prioritises and promotes child rights and safety.
  3. Advocacy: Promoting legislation, advocating for child rights through impactful stewardship.
  4. Capability: Maintaining the skills and knowledge necessary to maintain a child-safe environment.

These elements are integral to the Look / Do Tell approach, which places the child at the centre of all activities and decisions. For more information, visit our newly refreshed Safeguarding Page.

Child Safe Action Plan for 2025/2027

The Child Safe Organisation Plan (CSOP) is a component of the Big Fat Smile Child Safe Framework. It is reviewed annually to align with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

The Child Safe Action Plan aims to further embed the National Principles, the NSW Child Safe Standards, and the National Quality Framework by identifying priority areas for improvement over the next two years.
