Children at Bellambi Point Community Preschool will kick off Children’s Week with a brand new, eco-oriented outdoor play space as a result of recent work at the centre with funding from the NSW Government Community Building Partnership.

ribbon cut_edited“We are very grateful for Ryan Park’s support of our application and for his ongoing interest in our community.” Said Preschool Director, Kathryn Meyer.

Playing outside is a vital part of childhood that helps children develop physical strength, coordination and balance. But, there are many other ways outdoor play can help in childhood development, such as social skills, problem solving and connection to the environment.

The new play ground includes areas for active, free, quiet, social, imaginative, creative, exploratory and natural play. Children are encouraged to use their own initiative, explore possibilities and take chances providing them with opportunities to learn while they play.

Mr Park said “The team at Bellambi Preschool should be extremely proud of the commitment and dedication they have shown to have this vision come to fruition. The children who attend Big Fat Smile are very fortunate to have such great early childhood professionals to encourage them and inspire a love of learning. Hopefully this will stay with them as they go on to their formal schooling.

This preschool like many others, is not without its challenges but I have always been impressed with their passion and determination to give these young people the best start possible in life.”
