Jo Mavrigiannakis, Director of Reynold’s Street Community Preschool in Goulburn has been named as a finalist for ‘Early Childhood Director of the Year’ in the prestigious National Education and Care Awards.

Jo is one of 6 NSW finalists selected from a field of more than 1,260 nominations for the coveted ‘Director of the Year’ title.

The judging panel includes representatives of peak children’s services associations and other experts in early childhood development.

National winners of each category will be announced at the Australian Family Early Education & Care Awards 10th Anniversary Gala Celebration on Friday June 20 and share in over $75,000 in prizes.

Asked about the nomination, Jo told us “This really isn’t about the Director but the whole team behind the centre, this definitely isn’t a one-man job, we’re all in it together”.

Following a successful career in insurance management, Jo and her family moved to a property outside Goulburn which resulted in a career change.  After just 8 years Jo’s skills in leadership and team building have made her a ‘natural’ for the challenging role of an early childhood director.

Big Fat Smile CEO, Bill Feld said “When Jo took the helm at Reynold’s Street her energy and enthusiasm were immediately infectious”.

“It’s no surprise that the sector is recognizing her talents, we’re lucky to have her as a part of our team“.
